Helen Kennerley – Overcoming Anxiety

If you’re suffering from generalised anxiety disorder, a severe phobia or a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder then this is the book for you. Whilst it’s almost as old as I am and the techniques described are no longer cutting edge, there’s a lot of great information in here which will make you feel a hell of a lot better about yourself.

Kennerley’s book is split up in to two parts – the first part explains everything you need to know about anxiety, from what causes it to how cognitive behavioural therapy is and to how it can be used to treat it. Once you understand the whats and the whys, you can then proceed to the second section which details a whole host of activities that you can carry out to try to treat it.

Now, I’ll be honest – I haven’t really tried any of the exercises, but they sound promising enough to me. It’s definitely worth doing if you have anxiety issues.
