Ian Fleming – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Not everyone knows this, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was written by Ian Fleming, the author who’s perhaps better known as the creator of the James Bond series. This book is his only children’s book, and it’s a classic.

I’ve never seen the movie, and so I’ll quickly talk about the story line in case you’re unfamiliar with it. Basically, crackpot inventor Caractacus Pott rescues an old car and jazzes it up a bit, only the car has something of a mind of its own. Cue all sorts of adventures as the family goes out for a road trip.

Personally, I would’ve liked to read more stories about what happened to the Pott family, but I enjoyed the writing and recommended it to people. A good one for kids!
