Title: Foundation

Rating: 3.5/5

Ah man, I’m a little bit disappointed with this one. I think the problem is that it’s hyped up a lot and people refer to it as one of the definitive sci-fi series. It was okay, don’t get me wrong, but it didn’t really live up to those expectations. There were some awesome ideas here, but there are awesome ideas in a lot of sci-fi.

My hope is that the rest of the series is going to improve and that I’m going to fall in love with it, but I think it’s going to struggle to catch up with the regard in which I hold I, Robot. I’ve never read a bad Asimov book, and I’m not sure whether such a thing even exists, but it’s certainly true that some are better than others. This one reminds me more of Earth is Room Enough than of I, Robot and The End of Eternity, at least in terms of quality.

Should you read it? Absolutely. Asimov is a master of science fiction and this is iconic.
