The first thing to say here is that I think the title of the book is a misnomer, but only because true one pound meals are pretty much impossible in this day and age unless you only eat pasta. The meals in here are cheap, but I’d say that they’re in the three to five pound range instead.

Still, there are some super tasty recipes in here for you to wrap your taste buds around, including most notably a cool sausage roll recipe that doesn’t involve just buying vegan sausages and wrapping them in puff pastry. I quite liked the sloppy joe recipe too, although I think it would be improved with a little bit of soya.

Mostly, it’s a pretty good entry level cookbook if you’re new to veganism and trying to save a few quid, but a lot of the recipes were for stuff that I’ve been making for ages. My houmous recipe has been perfected through a prolonged period of trial and error, for example, and I don’t need another one. But considering I got it for a Christmas gift, it was okay!
