Title: The World Jones Made

Author: Philip K. Dick

Category: Fiction

Page Count: 160

Rating: 4/5

I’ve been reading a lot of sci-fi recently, and so it takes something pretty special to stand out of the crowd. This one managed it though, in part because of the concepts that it used. There’s a guy who can see a year into the future, but no further. Predictably, that ends up with him attracting followers and stuff, and then all sorts of shenanigans start happening.

All of this is happening against the backdrop of a science fictional universe, which means that there’s also plenty of worldbuilding and futuristic predictions on offer. Some of them even seem as though they could actually happen in our world, such as the concept of a robotic performer for a dead musician, reliving his finest performances. It’s not far off that time that Tupac was brought back as a hologram.
