S. E. Hinton – The Outsiders

This is definitely a modern classic, although I suspect if it’s taught in schools then it’s only taught in America. I loved it, and I could actually see a certain amount of parralels between the clashes between the greasers and the socs and the old rivalry between the greebos and the chavs in the town where I grew up.

I’ve heard only good things about this book, but I finally picked it up after seeing Catalyst Reads talk about it on YouTube. I was expecting to like it, but I wasn’t expecting to love it. It was great, and I think it’s the kind of book that everyone should read sometime.
