Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki - Skim

Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki – Skim

Skim is pretty much a masterpiece, and an epic collaboration between two cousins – Mariko was the writer, and Jillian was the artist. It tells the story of Kimberly Keiko Cameron, who people call Skim – she’s something of a social outcast, and this graphic novel takes us through her unpleasant experiences at high school. Skim isn’t exactly popular, and a lot happens to her that I can’t talk about her in case I spoil it for you.

This is one of those rare graphic novels where everything just comes together to make for a fantastic read, from the awesome imagery to the story line and the dialogue. It might not be for everyone, but you should certainly check it out if you like graphic novels. It’s recommended from me!
