I’m afraid I didn’t think much of Wings – I certainly think of it as my least favourite book in Pratchett’s bromeliad trilogy, although it’s still a decent enough story. It’s also the final book in the trilogy, and so you’re almost obliged to read it if you’ve finished the first two. That’s how it felt for me – like a chore, a box that needed to be ticked, but at only 176 pages long, I can’t really complain.
Loosely speaking, it follows the story of the nomes, as they try to find a big ship that’s waiting to take them home, to wherever it is that they came from. Their first step is to try to hitch a ride on a new kind of truck, a truck with wings, called the Concorde. I think you can see where this is going.
Overall, Wings is an okay read, but there’s better stuff out there. But both kids and adults can enjoy it!
